We all gathered around the pin pokers this morning to watch them carefully follow the outlines of paper hearts. Something about the sound of the pin poking the paper and the repetition of movement is very smoothing.
We also used our new giant heart hole puncher to make three hearts for our calendar. The first blue heart tells us which day it is today. The second birthday cake heart tells us which day we’ll celebrate Ridley’s 4th birthday. And the final pink heart tells us Ridley’s actual birthday, which falls on a Sunday. We all decided that we’d like to bake a cake for Ridley’s birthday (a long-time Pawpaw dream) and so we’ve been eagerly counting down the days!
In the park, we were shocked to see that the two big snowballs from yesterday had shrunk. We thought they were much easier to roll today, but still too big to pick up and carry :) We wondered how the sun could melt a portion of the snowball and not the whole thing. Lots of great questions!
After playing with the snowballs for a while, we set out on a snowball hunt. Sure enough, in the big field by the Stone Shelter we found four more snowballs!! It was SO SO exciting. We rolled them across the grass, sat on them and pretended to sleep on them. Then, across the secret bridge, on top of the little hill, Rigel spotted one more snowball. We all ran over to it and took turns sitting on it back-to-back. Such fun!
We ended our time at the park with adventures through the tall grasses, coming up with clever ways to cross the water without getting wet, and collecting small sticks to use as kindling for when we build a fire.
Back at school, we played a game called Guess the Animal while we ate lunch. Deidre gave us clues about various animals and we had to try and guess which animal she was thinking of. We couldn’t get enough and wanted to keep playing! The animals we guessed today were: wolf, frog, otter and owl.
Then, we worked one on one with Deidre to write our names on little slips of paper. We taped our name up on the wall next to our hand art. We’re excited to show our grown ups!!
Our day came to close with some dancing to the ukulele and a read aloud of Bear Snores On, joined by Ryan and Rowan :)
