We spent the morning constructing a bridge using chairs and a long piece of wood. Then, we added two different stepping stools to get up onto the bridge and a block pathway that led to the beach :) We decided the bridge could be used by people and cars.
During our morning circle, we talked about how some of us have been feeling upset because we’re not as fast putting our shoes on and getting out the door in the morning and therefore miss out on collecting chicken eggs. We thought of some solutions together and decided that we should all wait until everyone is ready before heading outside in the morning. We put our new agreement into action for the first time and are feeling good about it! Everyone had a chance to collect eggs and visit with the chickens.
In the park, we played in and around the Hospital Tree. We asked Deidre to hang our lunch blanket and pretended it was a door to our ice cream shop. We had lots of fun falling to the ground and then “coming back to life” with a sprinkle of magic dust. After lunch, it started to rain so we headed back to school for more play indoors.
We pretended our chicken poster was a weather chart filled with buttons. When Sylvie pushed the “rain” button, we all had to quickly build homes for our animal friends. When someone pushed the “sun” button, we would take our animals to the beach :)
After rest, we played in the backyard — chasing Vanilla the cat, feeding the chickens a variety of plants from the garden (lemon balm is our favorite!), watering the beets we planted yesterday, and dancing to music :)
