We spent the morning making cards for our families. We loved looking through all of the stickers and testing out our magic markers on the green cardstock. We think our families are going to love their cards!

In the park, we stopped at nearly every redbud tree for a snack :) We think the pink flowers taste like cherries and sour cream. We also stopped to watch some earth movers on our walk to the Bird Sanctuary. We have lots of ideas about what the park rangers are going to do with the dirt mounds.

After a stroll through the daffodil maze and a quick game of hide-and-seek, we arrived at the Bird Sanctuary. We had a blast wading through the pond in our rain boots and jumping off the big rock into the water. When we were soaked to the bone (through our rain clothes), we headed back to school to eat lunch.

We ate our lunch in the sun at the picnic table in the backyard. We played a game where we listed to the bird songs and tried to guess which bird was calling. We think we may have heard a woodpecker and a starling, and are certain we heard a mourning dove and a robin :)

We ended our day with some inside time and enjoyed playing with the trains, doll house, and butterfly life cycle figurines. While we ate our afternoon snack, we listened to a story about birds building nests and then rewrote the words to She’ll Be Coming Around the Mountain. In our version of the song, she is wearing funny clothes, riding rainbow unicorn horses, waiting for the train, going to see the wild lions and eating cucumbers!
