We spent the morning continuing to build out our train world from yesterday. We also enjoyed using the magnifying glass to look at our new caterpillars. We’re excited for them to get bigger and start spinning their chrysalides.
In the park, we made our way back to the Bird Sanctuary where we climbed, collected violet flowers, and used long sticks to “catch slime” (aka algae). We’re going to use the violet flowers to make purple lemonade! While we collected flowers, we made up a new song to the melody of I’m a Little Teapot:
Purple petals and heart shaped leaves
We love violets and so do the bees
We make them into lemonade and tea too
We like them with honey, how about you
On our walk back to school, we were all SO cold that we bundled up and got cozy in the stroller :) It was a windy day! Brrrrrr.
Back in the classroom, we decided that we were done with dried black beans in the sensory table and wanted something new. We looked at all of our options and settled on glitter sand. We worked as a team to scoop all the beans into a big bag. It was a lot of work, but we were determined and very proud when we completed the task.
We had so much fun sitting and playing together with the sand! We made cupcakes with candles on top, weighed the sand using our tiny scale, and filled lots of little containers using scoops and funnels.
After rest, Ridley helped transfer the violet flowers into a big glass jar. We then filled the jar with water and are going to let the flowers steep until Monday.
We ended our day with a math game where we counted the spots on the ladybugs, found the corresponding number, and then wrote the number next to the bug. We love solving math problems!
