Today was all about SNOW! We explored the park on foot, which was A LOT of work considering how deep the snow is and how little our legs are. Then we found the perfect spot to build our snow person. Unfortunately, the snow was too powdery to stick together into big balls, so we made a little mound instead :) We brought two burr oak acorns for the eyes, one carrot for the nose, lots of small twigs for the smile, and two branches for the arms. We also brought a handful of smaller acorns for buttons, but ended up using them as hair instead.
The most fun part was painting our creation! We used liquid watercolors in small squeeze bottles to drizzle color all over the white snow. We even made a trail of blue and green all the way back to school!
Once we got back to basecamp, it was all about SLEDDING! We had so much fun slipping and sliding down the front yard hill (thanks Nicolette for the extra sleds). We alternated between sledding and shoveling and painting the snow before heading indoors for lunch.
While we ate we listened to a story called, The Day It Rained Hearts. The story inspired us to make our own heart cards. We loved using our new heart hole puncher, glue sticks and sticker gems! Next week we will begin making our Valentine’s cards for everyone on our classroom list.
We ended the day with waffle-making and thought they were very yummy :) In a couple more months, we’ll be able to use our own syrup tapped from our neighborhood sugar maple!
