We kicked off the morning with a dance party before settling into some process art. We had lots of fun painting rainbows and hearts and then decorating them with shiny sequins and other sparkly odds and ends.

At the sensory table, we pretended the rice was snow and that our animal friends needed to quickly find food before the winter cold set in. We also worked together to fill the big glass cylinder one scoop at at time and were very proud of how we took turns :)

After snack, we geared up for the 1º temperature and headed into the backyard to check on our ornaments. They were frozen solid!! We popped them out of the mould and looked for places to hang them. Our prediction is that they will stay frozen for one more day and then they will melt. We’re going to keep track of the days with tally marks.

While outside, we also fed the chickens treats. They came right up to us and pecked the seeds and grubs out of our hands! We’re getting really good at sitting patiently and quietly so that they’ll come to us. Then we noticed that the bricks over by the raised beds were all glittery with frost. “Magic bricks!” We decided to collect all the bricks in the yard and stack them into a very tall tower.

Back inside, we built an obstacle course in the classroom. It was SO much fun! We had a high balance beam, a low balance beam, a rainbow bridge, squishy balls for throwing into a basket, a balance board, and a stepping stool to climb up before jumping into a giant pile of soft pillows.

After rest, we ate popcorn and brainstormed all of the people (and animals) in our community whom we’d like to make Valentine’s cards. After moms, dads and sisters, Moonshine and Sheffield were next on our list! We noticed yesterday on our walk in the park that the horses have their own mailbox, so that’s where we plan to deliver their cards :) Also on our list was the librarian, the “workers” at Local Harvest, the “guy who takes Moonshine on walks in the carriage,” and our grandparents. We’re still thinking of who else from our community to add…

We ended the day by choosing a few items (from a big bag) to add to our dollhouse. We chose a little wooden tricycle, a stroller and a mop + broom. We’re so excited about the new additions and spent the remainder of the day taking the play people to Seattle and then back to Saint Louis - because there were too many people in Seattle :)

We REALLY miss Rigel and hope his tummy feels better soon!
