This morning we put our heads together and came up with some ideas for how to make ghosts. We’re very into Halloween decorations right now and so we’ve been thinking a lot about ghosts, pumpkins, and spiders. We thought that maybe we could paint buckeyes white and use them for ghost heads. Stay tuned!
In the park, we found another giant pile of cut logs. We had so much fun climbing on them! Deidre stood on the tall log and helped us climb up to it and then jump across to the next stump. We did it again and again and again :) At one point, Rigel slipped and scraped his belly. We all checked in on him to make sure he was okay. Later on, he enjoyed showing his friends his gnarly scrapes.
When we arrived at the pine forest, we found so many corn stalks! They must have been left over from the Harvest Festival. We enjoyed peeling back the dried husks to reveal bright yellow ears of corn. It was hard work, but well worth it.
Back in the classroom, we picked out candles for our candle holders. Purple was a popular choice! The candlesticks are very fragile, so we don’t want our grownups to touch and break them :) We can’t wait to find the perfect spot to display (and light) them once we get home.
Towards the end of the day, we rolled wool into balls to make felted acorns. First, we pulled apart the pieces of colorful wool to fluff them up a bit. Then, we formed the dry wool into a little ball. Next, we dunked the ball into hot soapy water and then rolled away until a more firm ball formed. We all think Rigel’s ball looks like the Earth because it’s green and blue! Tomorrow, once the balls are dry, we’ll glue them into the acorn hats we collected today and hang them in the classroom as part of our Halloween/Fall decorations.
