This morning we worked really hard to make specific shapes on our geoboard. We needed a bit of guidance from Deidre, but mostly completed the challenge on our own! Some of us learned how to make a heart and some of us made a star. We thought it was funny that the star was basically two overlapping triangles.
In the park, we played our “family” game in the tree, created a new obstacle course, and listened as friends took turns reading aloud from the bird book. “Once upon a time, Goldie was so hungry and then he started to eat some plants and then his belly was all full and then he got caught in a big spiderweb! And spiderwebs are VERY important! And then…”
While we ate lunch, we listened to the story, Room on the Broom and then we built our own broomstick. First, we looked for a stick long enough to fit four kids. Once we found the perfect stick, we collected lots of pine needles to tie onto the end of the stick. We had so much fun flying around the pine forest and picking up friends who were waiting at the “witch station.”
Eventually, we flew all the way over to the cypress grove where we walked through tall grass and found new, creative ways to cross the creek. We like pretending the water is hot lava :)
When we got back to school, our hands were freezing! So, we made hot chocolate from scratch. We blended together cashews, water, cacao powder, and maple syrup. Then, we warmed the mixture on the stove, poured it into little glass cups, waited for it to cool, and devoured it. Some of us gave the hot chocolate two thumbs up, and some of us gave it two thumbs sideways because we think it would’ve been even more delicious with marshmallows on top! Next time, we’ll try it with marshmallows.
After rest, we enjoyed pumpkin muffins that neighbor Sandy made for us. We thought they were delicious!! Then, we explored a new puzzle, sewed leaves onto burlap, sorted our leaf collection by color and danced around in circles on the fluffy rug.
We ended the day with another story called, Boys Dance! We loved acting out the different parts of the story and practicing the various ballet positions. We talked about how anyone can be a dancer and how dancing is so much fun.
