This morning, we threaded colored beads onto various colors of pipe cleaner to create silly faces. Autumn drew eyes, eyebrows, cheeks, a nose, a smile, a crystal near the mouth, and a mustache on her cardboard face :)

A while later, Ridley met us outside and we all walked over to the park together. We missed Sylvie today!!
In the park, we climbed on the stone walls near the lily pad pond and had tons of fun jumping down from high places. We found so many colorful streamers on the ground and used them to decorate a “Christmas tree.” Then, we sand Christmas songs. We thought it looked so pretty when we were done! Autumn even pretended to turn the lights on and that made it glow.

Over by the Osage orange tree, we did more climbing. Ridley and Autumn had a “race” where they rolled hedge apples down the groove in the tree. Once the apples all collected at the bottom, they would throw them back onto the ground and begin the game again.

We also built a sundial using hedge apples as markers. “The first one tells us when we made the sundial. The second one tells us it’s time to eat lunch. The third one is when we have to go back to school and the last one is for nap time.” We really enjoy using the sundial to keep track of time.

On our walk back to TLP, we came across a group of tree trimmers. We watched them fell a tree with a chainsaw, which was very exciting. Then, they fed the tree trunk into a big machine with teeth that chews the tree up into wood chips and spits them out into a big truck. Ridley thought the tree sounded like fireworks when it fell to the ground! “All the leaves shattered!”

After rest, we built a really long garage out of magnetic tiles and had fun driving our little wooden cars in and out and then all around the classroom.

At the very end of the day, we sang songs and told a group story using the felt board. We each took turns making up part of the story… “Once upon a time there was a really big pumpkin and this bird lived in it.” “Then, the house fell on top of the tree and the horse got stuck in the chimney.” “Yeah, and a log fell on the horse’s head and then the petal blew and covered his eyes so he couldn’t see anymore.” “The bird had an idea and flew up to the log and knocked it down and then took off the petal so the horse could see and pulled the horse out of the chimney.” “The end!”

We’re looking forward to telling another story tomorrow and hope that our friend who are sick feel better soon!
