This morning we were excited to meet Nathalia and tell her ALL about our feelings, pets that have passed away, and favorite colors. We really liked being near her and showing her our indoor learning space!
At the art table, Autumn created a portrait of her dad and Sylvie made a very happy face with beaded braids :) We are enjoying threading colored beads onto the pipe cleaners and twisting the wires to create funny hairdos.
In the park, we crossed paths with a digger. It was so fun getting an up-close look at a machine we usually only see from a distance. We noticed the big tires, levers, scooper, and buttons and imagined all the things the digger might pick up.
Then, we saw the bird man and he showed us a picture of a rare bird he was in search of. We were SO excited to see him! “Nathalia! THIS IS THE BIRD MAN!”
Over near the yew bush, we saw (and heard) lots of big trucks and wood chippers. We all decided to sit on a log and watch the action. There was someone wearing an orange helmet high up in the tree and another person with a really long yellow rope. We were fascinated by the entire process and especially loved when the wood chipper spit out the wood chips.
To end our time in the park, we created an obstacle course on the path over by the horses. Sylvie taught everyone how to draw windows. “If you open this window, you’ll be inside a mouse’s house!” We counted all of the squares we made and almost counted all the way up to 30.
After rest, we learned how to make spin art using a salad spinner. Squeezing how ever much paint we wanted onto the paper was tons of fun! Spinning was the second best part because the final product was a surprise each time. “Watch me spin it! Doesn’t it look so cool?”
The final stretch of the day was spent chasing Vanilla the cat around the front and backyard :) We just LOVE Vanilla and can’t get enough of her!
