We enjoyed a slow morning, listening to the rainstorm and playing in the classroom. We are very into building tall towers, garages, and homes with the magnetic tiles!
Learning to put our rain gear on all by ourselves was a bit challenging, but we’re getting the hang of it :) Once we got outside, we had fun jumping in puddles, climbing on the white wall, standing near a building and letting the drips of rain splash onto our heads and searching for signs of Fall.
In the park, we found a giant pile of logs that were perfect for climbing. We pretended to be explorers and also horseback riders. Sylvie found a new insect that we all spent time observing. “I think it’s just a grasshopper that turned brown because it got camouflage.” A bit later, Autumn discovered a pine tree that had fallen over. “A tree is sick!” We all poked at the big clump of soil stuck to the bottom of the tree and felt how strong the tree’s roots were.
In the bird sanctuary, we splashed around in the pond and looked for long sticks to use to “stir the soup.” Then, we collected lots of small pebbles that were actually rare gemstones and traded them with one another.
We ate lunch inside today because it was so wet outside. Eating lunch in the classroom is always exciting because it means we can listen to some of our favorite songs from The Sound of Music!
After rest, we were so happy to see Nathalia :) We spent the rest of the day creating more spin art outside. Ridley invented a new technique where he’d open the salad spinner while it was still spinning and squeeze paint onto his paper. We’re excited to hang all of our spin art on the wall in the classroom!
