Ahhhh, finally some beautiful weather! While we’ve become quite resilient, we are definitely more lighthearted and lively when the weather is just right :)
We spent the morning building parks, castles, museums and cities out of a new miniature block set. We even incorporated the wooden snails from our Snail Pace Race board game into our imaginary play. Over at the art table, we practiced cutting with semi-sharp wooden knives. We’re also learning how to roll balls of dough with the palms of our hands.
In the park, Sylvie created butterfly art on the path while other friends climbed in the star magnolia tree. Then, we walked over to the pine forest to look for the “daddy deer” we lost a couple days ago. We found him! We spent the rest of the morning building homes for our animals using the natural materials around us. Bark, pine cones, pine needles, leaves, and sticks were transformed into shelters, roads, beds, gates, and playgrounds for our animal friends.
Rigel discovered that his “baby elephant” could cast shadows on our backs, and soon, we all became interested — searching for the perfect sunny spot to make our own shadows.
After rest, we learned a bit about pointillism and then used q-tips and liquid watercolors to create our own designs. We loved mixing the paints together to create new colors. “Look! I mixed green with red and it made brown!!”.
Fingers crossed for more great weather next week :)
