This morning we ventured all the way over to the buckeye trees! It was a long walk, but well worth it. We found so many buckeyes that we ran out of pocket space to carry them all. Some of the seed pods had two or three buckeyes inside, which was such a fun surprise! Sylvie reminded us that buckeyes are poisonous to humans (and dogs).

Across the street from the buckeyes, we spotted one of our favorite climbing trees — the Osage orange. We had a blast rolling the fruits down the crooked tree trunk and climbing really high! Rigel climbed VERY high and we were all so impressed. We want to be able to climb that high too, but think we may need a bit more practice.

After lunch beneath the Osage orange trees, we had a dance party on the pavilion and then organized our own game involving the tickle bunny and animal figurines :)

On our walk back to school, we found a massive ant colony swarming a piece of food. “All the ants in the world came here!”. We enjoyed watching them move about for a long time before continuing on our way.

We also found tulip poplar leaves beginning to turn yellow. “Signs of Fall!!”. We collected some green ones to turn into kitties back at school.

After rest, we each ate one of the pawpaw popsicles we made yesterday. They were delicious! Then, we played with the mud kitchen, washed all the mud kitchen tools in the pool, drained the pool, collected water as it poured out of the drainage holes to water plants, and drew “class pictures” at the picnic table :)
