We’ve been thoroughly enjoying our people figures and peg dolls! The people all have different abilities and we especially love the person who uses a wheelchair. Today, we built a stage for a person who is blind and uses a walking stick.
In the park, we noticed that the rain washed away our obstacle course. Some of us were upset and others saw it as an opportunity to create a new one. Everyone worked together to draw a new course, which included a big eyeball, balance beam, breathing bubbles and jumping squares. When you get to the breathing bubbles, you have to take a big breath, blow your bubble out and then clap to pop it. We are so creative!
In the pine forest, we built a sun shade (even though it was cloudy) and had tons of fun playing beneath it. The ropes holding it up became tightropes for our animal friends to walk along. Underneath the blanket, next to the log, became the beach :) We took our animals to many places and on many adventures today.
At rest time we enjoyed looking at some new pop-up books inspired by the ocean book Autumn brought to share with us. One book showed us how our bodies work and the other was about the changing seasons. We LOVE pop-up books and are learning how to handle them with care.
After rest, Rigel made a play dough birthday cake complete with three candles. We decided to light the candles to bring the magic to life. It was so fun! We sang happy birthday to Rigel and everyone laughed a lot. Of course, everyone wanted to make a birthday cake after that, so we took turns making cakes, lighting candles and singing.
At the end of the day, we made more pawpaw popsicles, which we’re very excited to eat tomorrow. While mixing the ingredients, a seed accidentally made its way into the blender and broke into lots of tiny pieces. So, we learned how to use a sieve to separate the seed pieces from the popsicle batter. We loved watching the batter drip through the mesh of the sieve.
Our day ended with some swimming and shaving cream fun to wash off our sticky pawpaw-covered fingers :)
