This morning, we enjoyed more hardboiled eggs in the park thanks to Ridley and his grown-ups. Ridley was apparently very excited to bring eggs for each friend and we were all so grateful!
After snack, we worked together to create a new obstacle course. We added a spiderweb that “catches” you, which led to lots of fun roleplaying :) “Help! Save me! I’m stuck! It’s an emergency!” “I’m coming! Here I am to get you out of here!”
We also created a rainbow circle for dancing, another bubble breath spot, apples that you have to smash with your feet and turn into applesauce, and a gratitude cloud. When you land there, you share something you’re grateful for. Ridley was grateful for the trees, Autumn was grateful for her mom, Sylvie was grateful for Autumn, and Rigel was grateful for his lego RV.
Eventually, we moseyed on over to the pine forest to eat lunch. We were surprised to find that out sundial was still there! Rigel and Sylvie worked together to arrange pinecones around the perimeter of the circle, each one representing a different time. We moved Deidre’s “time to start heading back to school for rest” pinecone to the bottom of the circle and decided that we’d stay and play all day :) Of course, we didn’t get to stay alllll day, but it was fun to pretend.
After lunch, we listened to a story about caring for the earth called, The Earth Gives More. One picture in the book shows a person picking up trash. So, we decided that we wanted to pick up trash too, because we see A LOT of it while playing. “I think picking up trash will make the trees happy.”
We had SO much fun cleaning up the park. Ridley carried the basket and we almost filled it to the top! When it was time to head back to school, we used some hand sanitizing spray from Forest & Meadow because trash is dirty.
After rest, we finished off our apple cake, harvested shiitake mushrooms, and watched the bees using binoculars. The bees were very busy today and there was a “pile” of them at their “front door” :) Sylvie said she saw a warrior wasp.
