This morning we had fun creating a color sequence and then using unifix cubes to build our design. We like saying the colors we chose out loud - “dark blue, light blue, green, black, dark blue…” :)
In the park, we found native persimmons!! The first persimmons of the year! They were just slightly underripe, but that didn’t stop us from eating them. We also enjoyed repeatedly jumping off the nearby park bench. “1-2-3 jump!” “Let’s all hold hands and jump together.”
After visiting the horses and watching Moonshine get hooked up to the carriage for his morning walk, we wandered over to the riding tree. It’s always tricky figuring out which two friends get to go first, but once we do, it’s all fun and smiles.
While walking from the riding tree to the cypress grove, we noticed trash under the secret bridge. Sylvie volunteered to go in the water and get it. We’ve been very focused on picking up trash and keeping the trees happy. We’re thinking about a longterm project to help keep the park clean. Stay tuned!
In the cypress grove, we decided we wanted help rebuilding the cave. It was hard work because branches are heavy! We were very proud of ourselves when the shelter was complete. We had a blast sitting together in the cave and pretending that the bird book was a book about the life of Inchy. We took turns reading aloud and then using the binoculars to try and find our beloved inchworm friend :)
After rest, we played in the sensory bins again. This time, we added corn starch and baking soda to the water to make it slimy! Then, we sang our goodbye song on the red chairs in Ty and Sandy’s yard. Deidre added in a new silly part where we had to switch seats with a partner in progressively faster rounds and we couldn’t stop laughing.
At the every end of the day, Matt and Ridley used the picker to harvest some jujubes for us to eat. They are so yummy! They taste like a spongy apple. We also harvested one (almost) ripe Asian persimmon. We can’t wait to eat it — hopefully tomorrow!
