We had lots of fun with the letters in our name this morning. We built our names with felt, bananagram tiles, and magnetic letters!
“We both have E’s!”
“My name doesn’t have a W… W is for Rowan.”

In the park, we made our way back to the pine forest only to find that our snow cubes had mostly melted. We were disappointed, but quickly became interested in nature’s other wonders. Autumn and Sylvie used long sticks they found to try and rescue a pretend cat and dog from up in the tree :)

A while later, after lunch, we found owl pellets! It was SO exciting to open each pellet and find tiny bones. We think the owl had eaten either a squirrel or a mouse. We worked together, using sticks and then our bare hands to break apart the pellets — stashing all the bones in our coat pockets to bring back to school.
”I can’t believe we can see bones!”
”Let’s find more!!”

We ended our time in the park by looking for tracks in the snow and collecting black walnut shells. We then stuck little twigs into the soil and topped them with the shells. “This is our mushroom garden.” By the time we were ready to walk back to school, we had lined up and counted 15 mushrooms! We sprinkled them with pine needles, pretending the needles were rain. “It needs to rain a lot because rain helps mushrooms grow.”

Before rest, we listened to a story Sylvie brought to share with us - Little Blue Truck. We talked about a time that we helped a friend or a friend helped us :)

After rest, we completed the final two pages of our Great Horned Owl book. Deidre showed us digital images of our book on her laptop. Our book is going to be turned into a board book! Maybe other kids will even be able to check it out from the public library. We can’t wait to show our grown-ups when it’s done!

Our day came to a close with a dance party to the Encanto sound track. We told each other which songs our moms love and had a blast talking about what happens in the movie.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
