Happy Birthday to Sylvie!

Today, we celebrated all of our friends with August birthdays by decorating paper crowns, eating cake (thank you to Aya and Jorie!) and singing several different iterations of the birthday song. We even decided to wear our birthday suits and splash around the bird sanctuary pond :)

For snack, we devoured fresh pawpaws from the backyard tree. We think that maybe if we plant some seeds at our house, they’ll grow into really big pawpaw trees and then we can eat them all the time.

We invented a new game today. Two friends climb up into the sycamore tree and make a bridge with their bodies. Then, a third friend climbs up and crawls under the bridge before sliding down the “trunk slide” to the ground. It was so fun that we didn’t even want to stop playing to eat lunch. It’s also hard work holding our legs up for so long!

On our walk back to school, we found a stage and a “long line” in the grass. We had a blast taking turns running along the line and yelling, “Ready, set, steady!”.

After rest, we walked over to the Royal to harvest grapes that were growing over the fence (Steve, the owner, gave us the green light). The grapes were purple and had a tiny crunchy seed in the middle, which we surprisingly enjoyed. Ridley carried our harvest basket and we filled it with about 30 grapes, which we ate back in the classroom.

At the end of the day, we asked to play with the trains and worked together to build bridges, tunnels, a “party”, and so much more! We even made pretend cake for the trains to eat :) Our ability to work as a team and communicate with kindness is growing by the day!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
