This morning, we made our Hanukkah stars out of twigs we collected in the pine forest yesterday. We hung them next to our Christmas tree decorations :) Now, we’re thinking of what else to add to make our classroom feel festive.
In the park, we climbed our favorite tree, ran through crunchy leaves, watched the big dump trucks dump dirt over in the field, and strung cranberries onto long strings. The cranberry activity took quite a lot of focus! Once everyone finished stringing berries, we walked over to the “little xmas tree” and adorned it with our bird-friendly decorations. We think the people who pass by are going to love the decorated tree!
After eating lunch in the pine forest, we headed to the playground. Deidre forgot that she had promised to let us play on the playground, so we reminded her :) It was the perfect day to play outside and we had the entire playground to ourselves!
On our walk back to school, we noticed that the creek was filled with leaves. We jumped in and ran through the mote —making bridges for friends to crawl under.
After rest, we made latkes with Matt! We grated potatoes and then squeezed out all the liquid. Then, we took turns cracking eggs into the bowl and stirring everything together. We added a few pinches and salt and pepper and then watched as Matt cooked little patties in the pan. Once they were done, we ate them outside at the table. They were so yummy and we all had seconds and thirds!
We ended the day with some outdoor watercoloring. We also fed the chickens a treat of seeds and Sylvie even picked up Fluffy Feet. What a wonderful day in the sunshine!
