This morning, Autumn asked if we could play on the “hooge” piles of dirt in the park, so we did. It was so much fun!! We thought it felt like climbing lots of big mountains. Ridley pretended that the giant clumps of mud were seats in a train car :) We played on the mounds for hours and had a blast (that might be an understatement) disappearing into the vast land of dirt.

For snack, we popped popcorn upstairs in the kitchen. Then, it started to snow and Rigel said that meant it was almost Christmas :) We watched the snow fall from the kitchen window before heading back downstairs.

Back in the classroom, we experimented with bubble wrap and white paint at the art table. “We’re making so much snow!” We excitedly also built a very intricate scene with trains, animals, people and an ice-skating rink on the rainbow rug.

At the end of the day, Deidre showed us our new mushroom grow kits. We’re growing blue oyster mushrooms and chestnut mushrooms. Ridley said that he loves oyster mushrooms and Sylvie said her favorite is shiitake. We learned that it’s called “pinning” when the mushrooms are just beginning to poke out.

We ended our goodbye song with a new game called Mystery Bag. Two friends sit facing one another, each with a bag filled with exact same mystery items. One person pulls something out of the bag and shows the other person. Then they ask the other person to find that item using only their sense of touch. The other person then feels around in their bag (without peeking) and attempts to pull out the same item. Everyone gave the game two thumbs up!
