If you haven’t already noticed, we have become very interested in letters! We spent the morning drawing letters on the chalkboard door as well as the little chalkboards that are part of a new provocation. We also had fun cutting letters out of old magazines and gluing them onto paper.
Before heading to the park, we collected the chicken eggs. Today there was one brown egg and one green egg. We’re SO curious to know which chickens lay which color eggs!
In the park, we found lots of frozen puddles to slosh around in. Then we made our way over to the dirt mounds (aka “the mountains”) for some serious muddy fun. We were so muddy that Deidre didn’t even have clean enough hands to take photos!
Sylvie got stuck in the mud, but we all helped her out and then cleaned her snow boots off in the Bird Sanctuary pond.
In the Bird Sanctuary, we found a new climbing tree and played a game of “all aboard the train” on a long log. We also found walking sticks and used them to point out letters on the yellow sign.
On our walk back to school, we looked for Little Witch Hazel’s house in hollow trees :)
After rest, we all helped cut out photos of the chickens and their eggs. Deidre helped us match the chickens with the correct egg color. We couldn’t believe that one of the black chickens is laying the green eggs!! “How can a BLACK chicken lay GREEN eggs??!”
We taped all the photos up on the wall and then wrote each chicken’s name so we’ll know who’s who. We decided to rename one of the chickens Blackberry because she’s black. So now we have: Moon, Birthday Cake, Fluffy Feet, Blackberry, and Silkie :)
We ended our day by checking on the sprouts, noticing their growth, and playing a game that requires steady hands and a bit of strategy.
We’re looking forward to an icy day tomorrow!
