We had lots of fun at our sensory station this morning! We loved scooping, pouring, transferring and sifting the rice, as well as smelling the star anise and cinnamon sticks.

At the art table, we created more stickers and hole-punched magnolia leaves. Ridley enjoyed observing the light streaming through the holes and onto the table.

In the park, we spotted a big hawk up in the tippy top of the trees. We watched the hawk for a long time and wondered what it was doing. “Maybe he’s best friends with an owl and he’s looking for him!” Then we made our way over the yew bush for some climbing.

A while later, a game of chase the dragon led us to a nearby leaf pile. We had a blast running and jumping into the pile. We even played a game where we ran full speed toward Deidre and tried to knock her into the pile. We made her fall so many times and laughed a lot! Then, we buried her in leaves and she emerged the Leaf Monster!

All that running, jumping, and tumbling tired us out, so we found a big oak tree to sit next to and rest. We talked a lot about fairies and dragons and then asked Deidre to be a dinosaur and chase us :)

Back at school, we used sticks and the fire poker to stir our brew of black charcoal soup. Yum! We added in lots of seasonings, just like in our new favorite book, Bear Snores On.

After rest, we played dress up, made cakes at the sensory station, practiced sewing beads on a big embroidery hoop, learned how to thread a needle, and had an epic dance party.

We’re excited to have school tomorrow, on a FRIDAY!
