This morning, we enjoyed watching a video of musicians playing the bagpipes and tin whistle. Then, we learned some Irish dance steps and danced around the classroom until we were all very sweaty :)

During our morning circle, Autumn shared her brand new pair of binoculars for Show and Tell. She told us that if you look through them backwards, everything looks very far away!

Once we got outside, we checked for chicken eggs. Rigel crawled all the way under the porch, but didn’t find any. When we finally found two eggs, we met at the table to make Irish bread. We mixed all the ingredients together, including the two eggs. We also tasted the secret ingredient: caraway seeds. Some of us thought they tasted like fennel.

In the park, we continued working on our obstacle course. It’s VERY long now! We also played hide-and-seek in the juniper trees and sat in the shade to chat when it got too hot :)

On our way to the pine forest, we saw a bunch of signs and wanted to get a closer look. It turns out, there was a kids event all about the Sounds of Spring being hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation…and we were the only ones who showed up. Each sign was an enlarged page from a story about frogs and all of the different sounds they make. It was so fun running from one ‘page’ to the next!

We also touched a variety of animal pelts, played with puppets, pushed buttons to listen to different frog songs, and made our own noise makers out of plastic eggs and dried beans. We had SO much fun and want to attend next month’s event.

After lunch, we played with people figurines in the pine forest. We had fun creating lots of storylines and talking about “getting married” and “kissing.” Oh my!

On our walk back to school, we spotted SO many crocus flowers. We took turns counting them and got all the way up to 34.

After rest, we tasted our Irish bread while we listened to a story about a boy who struggled to make choices. We loved that the book had lots of illustrations of different types of dogs :)

Then, we cooled down at the mud kitchen with some water/bubble play. We gave our people figurines a bath and experimented with the PVC pipes.
