We spent the morning building train tracks, stations, sculpture gardens and libraries. We also enjoyed building a pretend felt board fire. We were careful to first create a layer of tinder, then kindling, and finally logs. We helped Deidre think of lots of tinder possibilities and ended up with: dried leaves, pinecones, dryer lint & crumpled paper. We’re looking forward to building a real fire once this wet weather passes.
In the park, we splashed in some very muddy puddles. It was the best! We were so muddy and cold by the time we got back to school, that we all took a bath together to get clean and warm up. The bath was definitely the highlight of the day :)
Deidre dried us off one at a time, and so while we were waiting for our friends to get dry, we got to jump on the bed in the guest room with Matt. Then, we headed back downstairs to get dressed in new clothes.
We ended the day with a read-aloud, letter/sound matching game, more train play, and letter-drawing on the little chalkboards.
