We spent the early morning playing the felt board monster game, engineering structures using toothpicks and play dough, and listening to a story about a group of kids who go on a leaf hunt adventure. Then, we headed outside to collect eggs and make our way to the park. Can you believe we found five eggs today?! Four white eggs and one brown egg! The brown egg was in the chicken coop, but the four white eggs were way under the porch in the far corner where we couldn’t get to them. Sylvie excitedly volunteered to retrieve them for us and we were so happy she did! Now we have all the eggs we need to make pumpkin muffins after rest :)

In the park, we scooped up lots of leaves. We also found a massive pile of Osage oranges and tried to balance while walking on top of them. Then, we spotted s bunch of dirt mounds and had a blast running up and down each hump. Sylvie said, “This is the bestest day ever!” We think that this is where the “park people” are digging up the underground river.

A while later, we found a “secret path” that led us to a really pretty bridge. We had fun running over the bridge and then climbing down into the canal and crawling under. We didn’t see the magic dragon today, but we did see lots of colors! We also saw some ducks and wondered where they sleep at night. After some research on Deidre’s phone, we learned that ducks sometimes sleep while floating on water and other times in a huddle with their bottoms together and heads facing outward to look for predators.

On our walk back to school, we stopped to climb on our favorite climbing tree. We noticed that her leaves are all yellow! We talked about how excited we are for summer because of summer camp and also because that’s when juneberries grow :)

After rest we baked pumpkin muffins! Ridley thoroughly enjoyed washing the eggs we collected today and Sylvie measured out lots of different ingredients — using her finger to level everything off :) We worked as a team while mixing all the ingredients together. One friend held the bowl so it wouldn’t slide around while the other friend stirred. Then, we tasted the batter and it was delicious! The muffins were still baking at 4pm, so we’re going to eat them for snack tomorrow morning!

We missed Rigel and Autumn today and sent them both lots of hugs and kisses.
