This morning, we used cotton balls and paint to finish coloring in the leaves on our paint-by-number Fall tree poster. Then, we decided to paint the tree trunk, sky, and ground :) We also explored new puzzles and our favorite puppets: Snuggles & Carrots.

In the park, we played hide-and-seek and hung out in our climbing tree. We also gathered lots of fallen leaves into a giant pile and jumped in it over and over again. Autumn buried Ridley’s legs in leaves and we all threw leaves into the air and yelled, “leaf party!”

Over near the firs, we identified a new tree: Sourwood. Her leaves are bright red and she makes long necklaces of pearl-like seeds. We did some research together and learned that Sourwood leaves are edible (and sour!). So, we each chewed on a leaf. They didn’t taste too sour, so we think that maybe the time to eat them is in the Spring. We spit out the chewed-up leaves and then tasted another, and another :)

After playing “wolf is coming” under the fir trees, we adventured over to the picnic tables where we did lots of running, jumping, and climbing. We pretended to be a family — each friend taking on a different role (sister, dad, mom…).

Lunch was eaten beneath a canopy of gorgeous yellow maple leaves again. We love this spot! Every time the breeze rustled the leaves, they would fall onto our lunch blanket and into our lunchboxes. It was very silly! A little bee landed on Rigel’s banana during lunch and we all did such a great job staying calm and not swatting at the bee. We’ve become so brave!

Once we got back to school, we played a game where we let one friend into the classroom at a time. They had to knock on the door, say their name and then Sylvie would let them in :) The game made us laugh a lot.

We ended the day with more s’mores — only this time we used the graham crackers we made from scratch! We gave them “one hundred thumbs up” :)
