This morning we processed and prepared the ginkgo fruits that we collected yesterday. Then, we devoured them! We think they taste like “really really good pistachios” :)
In the park, we admired the yellow ginkgo leaves before heading into the bird sanctuary. We hadn’t been to the the bird sanctuary in a long time and so it was fun to rediscover the “sliding tree” and the little pond. We each collected a long stick and then dipped the stick into the waterfall until we noticed a glob of slime (aka algae) stuck to the end. Sylvie called her stick the “magic green stick” and danced around casting spells on everyone. She even turned Deidre into a bunny!
After lunch, we set up the hammock and had a blast pushing each other really high!! We played in the hammock for a very long time before heading back to school for rest.
When we got back to school, we wanted to check the coop (for the third time) for some eggs. We both crawled under the porch and found another egg there! We’d like to make a big cake with the eggs just like in the story we read about Bruno the Baker :)
After rest, we melted beeswax on the stove and carefully poured it into little acorn hats. Then, we gently set wicks into the wax and patiently waited for the wax to harden. We’re so excited to bring our floating candles home to share with our families! We also saved some so that Rigel and Autumn can see how they work :)
We ended the day with trains, peg people, blocks and lots of imagination. Sylvie built a school for the “children” and Ridley transported people to the train station.
While we had such a great day and really loved playing outside in the sunshine, we also missed our friends Rigel and Autumn. We hope to see them soon!!
