This morning we made ghosts to decorate the classroom. We used wool and cheesecloth and then a little string for tying off the head. We’re excited to hang them up on Monday once they are dry! We also made a paper pumpkin to tape onto our calendar. The pumpkin represents Halloween :) Now, we are able to see how many more days until trick-or-treating, costumes, and candy!
On our way to the park, we found poop on the white wall. It was very exciting! At first we thought it was ant poop, but quickly realized it must have been poop from a bigger insect or animal. After our discovery, the rest of the day became all about finding more poop.
In the park, we found lots of large clusters of mushrooms. We think there might be animals hiding underneath the mushrooms just like in the story we listened to called, Mushroom in the Rain. We also know that mushrooms grow in the rain, so we watched the clusters for a long time to see if they were getting bigger :)
As we continued on our adventure in the rain, we found walking sticks that helped us walk really fast. We also used them to poke anything on the ground that looked like it was poop.
In the bird sanctuary, we pretended to be a family looking for shelter from the rain. We ran from tree to tree and then up into the sycamore looking for a dry spot. We got very wet in the storm, but it was fun!
After rest, we headed straight back outside to eat some pawpaw popsicles and play. Ridley helped plant pansies in the garden and everyone was interested in the worms he was digging up. We also had fun playing at the sensory table before a long game of hide-and-seek.
After singing our goodbye song, we enjoyed making music and then listening to a new story that was filled with lots of fun pictures. One page showed facial expressions and so we talked about how we can often tell how someone is feeling by looking at their face. We all decided that today we felt happy (but Rigel added that he was a little sad when he fell and scraped his knee).
