Some of us made rock mummies this morning! When Autumn heard Deidre say, “rock mummy” she said, “What about rock daddies?” :) As it turns out, we don’t really know what mummies are, so next week we’re going to read some books about them to learn more.

In the park, we visited our old friend, The Climbing Tree. We pretended that different branches were different bedrooms in a house and convened every few minutes for a very important “meeting”. A while later, we went on an adventure to find colorful leaves for a sun catcher project. We found lots of red, yellow and orange leaves, and especially loved the deep burgundy sumac leaves. As we gathered these Fall treasures, we thanked the trees and sang songs.

Of course, our adventure led us to the “Echo Place” and then to the playground. We had a blast swinging, climbing & hanging and definitely didn’t want to leave when it was time to go. Sylvie said, “We usually never go to the playground. Well, sometimes we do but only on Fridays. Today must be a REALLY special day.”

After rest, we used scissors to cut the leaves we collected into smaller pieces. Then, we stuck them onto clear contact paper in the shape of a pumpkin. We’re so excited to hang our masterpiece in the window tomorrow!!

The day ended with lots of snuggles with Vanilla the Cat, watering plants, and painting with wet chalk. We also harvested and ate more jujubes, which were delicious (and packed with vitamin C).
