This morning, we sprayed water on paper until it was very wet. Then, we layered on pieces of tissue paper to make a sunset. Our favorite part of the process was using the spray bottle :)
In the park, we quickly put to use our new chalk set. We created yet another obstacle course complete with running, jumping, tiptoeing, side stepping, dancing, breathing, hopping on one foot, and hot lava. Autumn added a little squiggle that we had to try and jump over. It was so much fun! Some joggers who were passing by asked if they could try our obstacle course and we said yes. We told them that they did a really good job!
After hanging out near our climbing tree, we headed over to the cypress grove. When we arrived, we found the coolest fort. We liked calling it a cave :) We got to work adding more sticks to “make the cave really strong.” Once the cave was complete, we ate our lunch inside! We saw lots of inch worms while we were eating. We’re learning how to use a small stick to gently move worms (and other bugs) to a new home when we don’t want them climbing on or near us.
After lunch, we took off all of our clothes and splashed around in the creek. It was the best! We also practiced crossing the log and made little boats out of milkweed seed pods. Before heading back to school, we built a tiny home for the cypress fairies. Autumn enjoyed telling Rigel how many sticks to collect and Rigel enjoyed counting each stick as he picked it up. “You need one more stick Rigel.” “Okay, now is the fairy house done?” “Not yet, just one more stick.”
When the house was finally built, we headed back to school. Autumn found a giant mushroom on the way. We’re curious about which animals might eat mushrooms. We think maybe squirrels and birds?
After rest, we checked on our tissue paper sunsets and were surprised to see that all the colors from the tissue transferred onto the paper. Then, we walked over to the Royale to pick grapes, which were yummy as usual. When we got back to school, Deidre harvested some passion fruits for us to eat. Autumn tried some of the slimy seeds and immediately asked for more :) “These are soooo sour and soooo good! Let’s get another one.”
We hope Sylvie and Ridley come back to school tomorrow! We really missed them today.
