This morning, we left extra early for the park to soak up the beautiful weather. When we arrived at our cave, we decided to rub lots of dirt onto our faces to help us look like monsters :) Then we ran around trying to catch each other while growling and screaming.

Near the creek, Rigel found some heavy stepping stones. He stacked them into a pile and tried standing on them to practice his balance. “These are wobbly!” He experimented with placing the largest stone and then the smallest stone on the bottom of the pile — trying to find the perfect combination to make them more stable.

Sylvie joined us later in the day and we were SO excited to show her our cave. On our walk back to the cypress grove, we found so many colorful leaves. “Signs of Fall!”

We played in our cave for a long time — looking for natural materials to decorate the “walls” and bringing in lots of inch worms to keep them safe. We call the worms “Inchy” and take really good care of them. “We need to build a bigger home for Inchy!”

On our walk back to school, one of the tires on our stroller popped. The loud sound startled us all! We loved looking at the tire, finding the hole, wondering aloud about what popped it, asking lots of questions and coming up with solutions. “We just need to give it air at school, okay?!” “Let’s use this stick to put in the hole. That way air can’t come out.” Deidre says she’s going to take it to a bike shop today to see if someone can help her patch it.

After rest, we showed Sylvie how to make a tissue paper sunset and then we enjoyed pawpaw popsicles in the backyard while watching the chickens eat various greens we tossed into their enclosure. We learned that they like to eat marigolds and cherry tomatoes. We also decided to change the black chicken’s name to Moon :)

To end the day, we made potions in the mud kitchen, ran in the sprinkler to get wet, and learned/sang/acted out a new song about making pizza. “Let’s make a pizza me and you, let’s make a pizza just for two…” We’re excited to teach the song to Ridley when he joins us tomorrow for a half day!!
